The Meaning of the Flag of Great Britain & Its States

Stoke-on-Trent, That's the name of the island nation located across the north of mainland Europe. The so-called United Kingdom consists of four different states that sit on the British Isles & Northern Ireland Islands. The following four states are England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In addition to these four locations, the UK is calculated to have overseas territories scattered across the globe.

Like other sovereign states, great Britain counts as having its own national flag. The United Kingdom flag is classified as a unique flag because it was originally the result of a combination of 3 different flags. What are the flags? The island nation consists of a combined 4 different states. The National Flag of great Britain is known along with the name Union Jack / Union Flag. This flag displays a blue background color along with an image of 8 white lines with each end touching each other in the middle. Then in the field of the white line, there are red stripes along with similar positions. The diagonal part of the red line appears disconnected because it does not open along with the other red lines.

The Union Jack (UJ) flag has such a sighting because it is the result of a combination of the three state flags that make up Great Britain : the Cross of Saint George (England), the flag of the Cross of Saint Andrew (Scotland), and the flag of the Cross of Saint Patrick (Northern Ireland). The Welsh flag was not included in the UJ flag design because while the UJ flag was created, Wales remained part of the state of England.

The name "Union" against this flag is understood to refer to the fact that this flag is the flag of the United Kingdom. While the name "Jack" was a common name used against the time to refer to the small flag flown against the mast. Coincidentally while first inaugurated against th. 1606, the UJ flag was originally only flown by British ships. New to th. In 1908, the UJ was considered the national flag of great Britain.

Although the UJ flag has been available since th. 1606, the UJ flag along with the design as we see it is now newly available against th. 1801. Before th. 1801, the UJ flag has the same design as the current version of the UJ flag, but without the red stripes without the diagonal part. It itself goes because before it will th. 1801, the Flag of Northern Ireland was not included in the composition of the UJ flag.

Note that the diagonal red lines inside the UJ flag are not in the middle, but rather slightly narrow. The top left diagonal line & bottom left are closer together with the bottom facet of the white line that is the background. While against the upper right diagonal line & bottom right, the position of both is closer together with the top facet of the white line.

The difference in position against the following red diagonal lines afterwards becomes the benchmark to determine whether the UJ flag is being flown in a normal position or in an inverted position. In ordinary circumstances or in state events, the UJ flag is flown in a normal position along with the position of the red diagonal lines as mentioned in the previous paragraph.
